JOB TITLE: Project Manager LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center, Annex Building DEPARTMENT: Population Health WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for management of population based and clinical research/quality improvement projects as identified by the Chief of Population Health or senior leadership, including implementation protocol development, project planning,team management, project tracking, and data collection and assisting in the creation of final reports and publications. Assists with the development and management of new projects, using standardized Project Management Methodology (PMM) and other industry standard best practices, tools and techniques. Compiles data and maintains databases to assist with tracking various quality issues including: Working with innovation teams, system initiatives and research projects. Provides input into project plans and acts as point person for specifically assigned projects. Responsible for coordinating interdepartmental quality improvement activities, system Initiatives and identifying ongoing data for innovation projects and plans. Provides team leadership and general management of Associate Project Manager to ensure work is being performed in alignment with Geisinger’s vision and values. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports to the Director, Population Health Solutions.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Leads collaborations with the project team and functional leadership to develop and communicate project goals and objectives, metrics, timelines, communication plan, budget, and other project requirements. 2. Facilitates effective change management if applicable. 3. Reports and appropriately escalates project risks, issues, and changes with suggested mitigations to stakeholders and leadership. 4. Develops effective working relationship with the Population Health Team, IT, inpatient and outpatient operational units, and others as required to achieve desired outcomes. 5. With the project team, analyzes and develops workflows to facilitate the standardized collection and recording of clinical data relevant to providing quality, safe, and efficient healthcare, ensuring regulatory requirements are met. 6. Focuses on the design, structure, and presentation of clinical information and how these issues impact nurse, midlevel and physician decision making, workflows and outcomes for clinical effectiveness, patient safety, alternative payment models, and regulatory requirements. 7. Keeps informed of EHR applications and operational procedures both internally and externally. 8. Recruits and develops new personnel. Ensures training, development, discipline and performance appraisals on current personnel are completed timely along with recommending direction and improvements to help the employee meet department goals.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: *Bachelor’s degree in a related health field required. Master’s degree in health administration or other advanced degree preferred. *Project management professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred. *Minimum three to four years related healthcare experience required. *Project management and implementation experience and a strong understanding of health care systems and workflow required. *Experience with MS, Word, Access, Excel required. *Experience with project/project portfolio management software is strongly preferred *Minimum 2 years healthcare computer applications experience and software tools used for data analysis required. *Previous training experience in process redesign, problem-solving, and continuous quality improvement required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *Work is typically performed in an office environment.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
