FairviewRidges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is one of the largest surgical sites in the Twin Cities, performing over 10,000 procedures each year and featuring complex orthopedic, spine, and robotic surgery capabilities. The scheduling department for perioperative (pre-, intra-, and post-operative) services partners with our physician and nursing teams to provide a safe and high-quality care environment for our patients. This team manages the surgical schedule as well as billing and other clerical functions, and is looking for a Billing and Scheduling Coordinator to join the team.

This is a 0.6 FTE or (48 hours in two weeks), Monday-Friday, benefit-eligible position. Start times aretypically 8:00, 8:15,or 8:30 am.

Some job duties may include:

• Performs efficient and accurate surgery scheduling to ensure the exchange of information and promote the coordination of services.
• Ensures entry of all services and billing records, while communicating questions to manager, charge nurse or nurse in procedure.
• Assists with ongoing system maintenance to ensure an accurate, organized and effective database(s).
• Completes routine duties and other clerical duties, as assigned, to include: updates of supply requisitions, preference cards/extended preference cards, preparation of necessary reports, records and other updates, assessment and addition of providers and employees to provider file.
• Participates actively in department problem solving, identifying problems, potential solutions and methods of implementation.
• Displays excellent customer service skills with effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance the patient and family experience for internal and external customers.

Required:

• 2 years of medical office secretarial experience
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent computer, problem solving and communication skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to work within and manage a large volume of communication and interactions with patients and families

Preferred:

• Experience working in a team with shared coverage and responsibilities
• Working experience with Medical terminology (through work experience or class/coursework)
• Billing or scheduling experience in a medical setting
