Security Health Plan serves more than 225,000 people in a 40-county area in northern, western and central Wisconsin. We offer a variety of health insurance options for employer groups, individuals of all ages, and families of various income levels.

The Underwriter is a key contributor in the Security Health Plan (SHP) Underwriting Department. This individual supports a variety of health plan products and works to achieve SHP’s financial and marketing objectives by conducting premium rate analysis, risk evaluation and negotiation strategies.

Job description and qualifications will vary depending on the level selected.

Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office suite and one of the following combinations to be considered.

• High school diploma or equivalent with five years’ experience in underwriting/actuary or related field.
• Associates degree with three years’ experience in underwriting/actuary or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree with one year experience in the health insurance industry, data analytics, accounting, underwriting/actuary or related field.

Preferred Education / Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field.
• Actuarial/underwriting experience within the health insurance industry.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification awarded by The Institutes.
