We are currently seeking a talented Infection Preventionist to join our team at Abrazo Arrowhead! Accountable for surveillance, prevention and control of infections in patients, staff, physicians, visitors and other internal and external customers. Assists in monitoring and reporting of fiscal and budgetary operations and provides support for the vision and direction of the division. Responsible for ongoing interface and frequent communication with management, staff, physicians, patients, and other internal and external customers. Responsibilities: -Observes and evaluates techniques and practices related to health care associated disease prevention at all levels of health care -Performs surveillance activities and applies a basic epidemiologic approach to problem solving -Provides formal and informal education programs to health care providers -Provides patient education regarding disease transmission and prevention methods -Evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures -Serves as the Infection Prevention consultant for multiple departments -Foster and facilitate quality improvement activities and implement customer focused processes to ensure continuum of care, consistency of practice, and cost effective delivery of quality care. Manage resources by evaluating defined standards of care and responding to variances in clinical outcomes. -Effectively manage change and facilitate innovation; encourage and motivate staff to be creative and support methods for continuous improvement to enhance patient satisfaction, business outcomes, and quality of care; Demonstrate knowledge of resources and current national and local issues affecting specific environment. -Respond to the needs and expectations of internal and external customers in a timely and efficient manner. Provide appropriate feedback to director and manager regarding the needs and expectations of customers and implement plans and strategies to maintain or improve customer satisfaction. Demonstrate ability to act as an internal and external consultant for the Network and the community. Demonstrate knowledge of standard office equipment and computer applications. -Identify and maintain required clinical knowledge, expertise and skills related to the specific environment in order to educate, direct, and support staff, physicians and other customers. Communicate and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable CHN policies and procedures; motivate excellence in staff performance. -Analyze and incorporate current business, clinical and regulatory trends and collaborate with members of health care team to ensure effective use of resources (human, capital, financial and environmental). Provide input into annual capital and operating budgets. -Foster and maintain effective, collaborative, professional relationships and processes within the established management structure and with key internal and external customers. Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills; communicate in a positive, open and respectful manner while encouraging feedback from staff; provide direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner; ensure follow through; Comply with the policies and procedures of CHN. Seek opportunities for enhancement of clinical care and service to support the continuum of care; collaborate with other departments to resolve issues that impact care delivery. -Promote and support the CHN, division and departmental vision, mission and values; demonstrate the ability to translate the organizational vision, mission and values into daily action. Understand, interpret and model the values of CHN; clearly and consistently communicate these values to staff and all others with whom we work. -Identifies location of Hazardous Communication Manual(s) and identifies use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); describes the procedure for handling spills involving hazardous materials and waste; defines the acronym RACER; responds with appropriate phone numbers to call to report emergencies; describes location of Emergency Preparedness Manual and describes primary component. Identifies location of Unit Safety Plan Manual and describes the evacuation plan for the specific environment. Identifies the location of fire pull-stations, hand-held fire extinguishers, and emergency power outlets for the specific environment.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Preferred: Current Arizona RN License, if applicable. Current CIC
EDUCATION: Required: Graduate of accredited school of nursing or other health related field. Preferred: Bachelor�s RN or Medical Microbiologist
