The Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SAVAHCS) Rehabilitation and Transitional Care Service is seeking a full-time Physiatrist. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized for this position. The physician will demonstrate expertise in outpatient Physiatry in the care of this diverse population of Veterans. The physician will have broad based skills in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of acute and chronic rehabilitation conditions and be able to provide rehabilitation consult services on an outpatient basis primarily. This includes diagnosis and management of back, neck, and joint pains, as well as neurological and other musculoskeletal disorders. The ideal candidate will have training and expertise in current interventional modalities including but not limited to major joint injections, trigger point injections and Botox injections as well as electrodiagnostic medicine studies, or the interest in developing such expertise. Additional training in more advanced interventional procedures is a also of benefit. The candidate will also serve as the physiatrist on VISN 22 TBI/polytrauma team. The selected candidate will function independently as a member of the SAVAHCS medical staff, with full clinical privileges and will be required to: Engage in direct patient care; Perform a full range of rehabilitation specific evaluations to diagnose and treat all general rehabilitation populations, Assume complete and professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions and documentation; Provide education to patients, families and caregivers; Serve as a subject matter expert in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation; Work closely with Primary Care, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Neurology, Rheumatology, and Pain Services, and with other services across the continuum of care, including Prosthetics. Demonstrate active learning and involvement in the professional community; Actively participate in educational activities with program personnel and advocacy activities; Adhere to operational policies and comply with peer review procedures; Utilize computer software applications to document patient medical records and facilitate clinical care.
