This position is an integral part of a large comprehensive Occupational Therapy (OT) Service at the Minneapolis VAMC. This is a Complexity Level 1a facility with a National Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center (PRC), a Spinal Cord Injury and Neurological Disease Center (SCI/D), an Amputation Regional Center (ARC), a Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation (PTRP) program and a Polytrauma Network Site (PNS). This position is assigned to Primary care (PACT) and general outpatient medicine services. Duties of this position are, but not limited to: Seeks out information regarding populations served and utilizes information in evaluation and treatment of patients. Demonstrates the ability to assess and develop occupational profiles for the OT treatment of patients across multiple ages and diagnoses. Demonstrates ability to interpret and incorporate current research and practice standards to inform evidence-based practice with specific focus in acute care, subacute, geriatric, and dementia. Independently selects and administers standardized and non-standardized assessments including a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and physical assessments appropriate for patient population. Demonstrates comprehensive evaluation and documentation skills of patient's physical, occupational, cognitive and psychosocial functional deficits to inform and develop appropriate OT treatment plans. Independently makes changes in treatment plans, methods and modalities based on patient response to treatment, communication with treatment team members, feedback from family members and the patient's goals. Collaborates with specialists in secondary coverage areas to monitor changes to interventions if complexity increases. Routinely shares information as an active participant on rehabilitation teams.
