This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill a Supervisory Occupational Therapist, GS-0631-14 position with Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service with the Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System. Provides for overall clinical coordination for all PT and OT programs within PMRS. The incumbent must understand and have the ability to implement policies, philosophies and directives of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, the Medical Center, and VISN 19. S/he helps integrate PMRS with other program services and departments with ECHCS and assists the chief in the professional aspects of care, program planning, and administration. Incumbent has advanced knowledge of evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines in multiple rehabilitative services. Ensures that the program staff utilizes these practices in clinically appropriate treatment plans. The incumbent supplies support and assistance in the areas of management and professional responsibilities to the Chief, PMRS by providing broad rehabilitation knowledge and a comprehensive range of administrative functions such as: Directly supervise and provide leadership to frontline supervisors of various disciplines to include Outpatient PT/OT, Inpatient PT/OT, and CBOC Rehabilitation Managers. Second level supervisor for all PT and OT clinical positions to include PT, PTA, OT, and COTAs. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide clinical and administrative oversight of multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs throughout ECHCS to include CARF accredited rehabilitation programs. Responsible for space allocation for the various PMRS sections, specialized programs, and other remote site clinic expansions. Responsible for writing and establishing operational guidelines and/or departmental policies for existing, new, or expanded programs such as the Jewell Polytrauma Clinic. Responsible for ensuring the coordination of multiple rehabilitation services throughout ECHCS as well as ensuring optimal collaboration with other healthcare providers and programs throughout Denver VAMC. Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based rehabilitative practices and clinical practice guidelines throughout ECHCS. Setting priorities for the purchase of new PMRS medical equipment. Evaluation of nonprofessional aspects of PMRS section supervisors. Selection of nonsupervisory and supervisory employees throughout PMRS. Handling complaints/grievances of a diverse range of employees throughout PMRS not resolved by PMRS supervisors. Assist Chief with PMRS personnel and budget management. Collaborate with strategic planning committees within ECHC, VISN 19, and National levels. Helps integrate PMRS with other program services and departments with ECHCS and assists the chief in the professional aspects of care, program planning, and administration. Ensures that the program staff utilizes these practices in clinically appropriate treatment plans. Serves as a resource person to the Chief, PMRS in all areas of national accreditations including The Joint Commission & CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).
