The Integrative Health / Whole Health System Director (IH/WHS Director) position is located at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care (FHCC). The IH/WHS Director has full responsibility for the planning and delivery of services within the FHCC WHS and collaborates with executive leadership to shape FHCC WHS services in alignment with FHCC organizational priorities. In collaboration with the Whole Health System Manager (WHSM), the IH/WHS Director plans, delivers, and monitors WHS outcomes to include creating an annual WHS Strategic Plan. The IH/WHS Director identifies WHS development priorities and works with the Office of Patient-Centered Care and Cultural Transformation (OPCC&CT), VISN 12 support, FHCC Executive Leadership, Clinical Directorate level leadership, appropriate service level chiefs, and the FHCC WHS Steering Committee for FHCC WHS development. In addition to developing, monitoring, and sustaining the FHCC WHS programming, 50 percent of the IH/WHS Director tour of duty is spent seeing patients for integrative health services referred to him/her through integrative health team consultation requests. Major Duties and Responsibilities Provides clinical input and joint oversight for all integrative health care patient treatment plans.. Serves as a consultant to multi-disciplinary PACT teams consisting of physicians, psychologists, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other multidisciplinary team members in evaluating health promotion and disease prevention activities to Veterans, Active Duty, and their beneficiaries. Advises facility and Primary Care leadership on clinical and administrative issues related to health promotion and disease prevention, including clinical preventive services. Serves as a member of the Pain Team, which includes a Behavioral Medicine Pain Psychologist, PM&R provider, and other collateral members including but not limited to clinical pharmacy specialists, nurses, mental health specialists, coaches, chiropractors, acupuncturist, dietitians, and recreational therapists. Leads a multi-disciplinary integrative health team, including but not limited to dietitians, psychologists and members of the Pain University team, nurses, coaches, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists. Keeps the WHS team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards. Collaborates with other WHS members, FHCC leaders, VISN leadership, and OPCC&CT staff on program development issues and when medical or other problems arise. Chairs the FHCC WHS Steering Committee and provides oversight to the membership regarding the three elements of the WHS model: The Pathway (Empower), Well-Being Programs (Equip), and Whole Health clinical care (Treat). Serves as the executive sponsor to the Chair of the FHCC Whole Health Staff Committee. Provides mentorship to build a culture of health and well-being by integrating personal health and wellness activities for improved staff work-life balance and a healthier and more resilient workforce. Works collaboratively with Pain University Program Manager and team to educate both patient and staff on pain management, including offering CIH strategies and treatment modalities for chronic pain. Works collaboratively with members of the FHCC Well-Being / Healthy Living teams and programs, including but not limited to Recreational therapists, Occupational therapists, and volunteers. Works closely with the MOVE! Coordinators, Veterans Health Education, My HealtheVet, Canteen management, Employee Wellness, and others interested in promoting the health status of FHCC patients and employees. The incumbent integrates newly developed program activities with existing activities of other services and departments at the FHCC, including Nutrition and Food Service and Mental Health Services. Works collaboratively with FHCC WHS and Pain Management coaches and partners, who are working with patients to identify health and well-being goals and support sustainable behavioral and lifestyle changes. Supports implementation and coordination of one-on-one Health Coaching that is not limited to: Creating the infrastructure of in-person, telemedicine, or phone coaching sessions, connecting interested patients to a health coach and responding to provider referrals, and assisting in the development of educational materials in support of coaching services. Works collaboratively with academic affiliates to promote the growth of the WHS and Pain Management at the FHCC. Provides education to existing clinical teams, including Primary Care in integrative health principles, and provides an environment for student, resident, and fellowship training. Provides grand rounds, in-services, and other training opportunities, as needed and decided upon by WHS and Pain Management teams to promote the WHS and Pain Management transformation at the FHCC. Serves as a medical center point of contact for the FHCC WHS campaigns and events, ensuring local implementation and participation. Work Schedule: The normal tour of duty would begin at 8:00am - 4:30pm excluding weekends and Holidays. On occasion, the tour of duty will be on Saturday from 8:00am - 12:00pm.
