GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Registration & Coding Administration Support Specialist (RCASS) is responsible for patient registration into billing systems and administrative functions that support timely and accurate billing for patient's specialty services. This position works closely with coders, providers, the Trauma Trust administration team as well as hospital billing and patient access departments. Work situations are routine and require a service-oriented individual, with skills in problem resolution, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. This position also performs other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Finance & Operations Manager.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Performs complete and accurate patient registrations according to billing and collections policies and procedures.- Manages daily census and trauma activation logs ensuring patients are appropriately captured and entered into billing systems and auditing process.- Obtains insurance eligibility and authorizations as needed- Attends hospital training and keeps abreast of insurance requirements for accurate registration- Assists in the management of review, processing and resolution of billing edits and work queues - Assists in the coordination of documentation and information requests from providers- Assists in researching and resolving problems/patient queries related to charges and payments on statements- Acts as a liaison between hospital systems and Trauma Trust - Performs related duties as required, and may perform other assigned functions as necessaryVALUES BASED BEHAVIORS:Excellence: Be Your BestIntegrity: Do the Right ThingTeamwork: Collaborate/Be KindStewardship: Live LeanProfessionalism: How Others See YouInnovation: Think Outside the Box KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES - Knowledge of and skill in the use of a computer and related systems and software to include MS Word/Excel- Skill and proficiency in oral and written communication- Skill in time management and organization skills- Ability to work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines and frequent interruptions, completing assignments daily unless a longer turnaround time is specified- Ability to relate well with hospital staff, medical staff, and the public, exhibiting a positive and cooperative outlook towards his/her position, the organization and fellow employees- Ability to work efficiently with a diverse population and deal with difficult people and/or difficult situations professionally and courteously- Ability to set priorities and use good judgement EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - High school graduate or equivalent- One (1) year experience in admitting, billing, registration, or referral coordination in a health care setting.Job descriptions represent a general outline of job duties, functions and qualifications.
