University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology practice in Minneapolis, MN.

A longstanding and powerful collaboration with Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota allows our patients access to the latest advances in the treatment of cancer and diseases of the blood. We constantly strive to improve everything, from the cures themselves to the supportive care that make the cures more tolerable for children. We never stop looking for ways to improve and enhance treatments.
Communication and collaboration between specialties is a key factor in our success. From highly trained physicians, nurses, radiologists, physical therapists, care coordinators, nutritionists, pharmacists, child-family life specialists, social workers and more, all the services children need to get better are all under one roof.
Practice Details:
- Location(s) of practice: University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, Katie Hageboeck Children's Cancer Research Fund Clinic
- Join a team of 10 physicians, 4 Advanced Practice Providers, RNCCs and social workers
- The Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the pediatric hematology/oncology health care team who works in collaboration with physicians and other medical staff to provide comprehensive health care to patients. The APP engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to individuals. The APP obtains patient histories, performs physical and psychological health assessments, provides patient and family education and counseling, and ensures continuity of health care services for pediatric, adolescent and young adult patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses.
- This position is a mainly inpatient based position. Will include inpatient hematology consults, management of general hematology/oncology patients and patients receiving chemotherapy. This will be a hematology focused position. Possibility of some outpatient clinic time.
- Procedures performed: Bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures will be required in the practice
- Fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC).
- As this is a new role, specifics of the schedule may flex over time. Initially planning for Monday-Friday days but may include weekends or night coverage.
- Openings: 1.0 FTE (Full Time)
We're Looking For a PA or NP Who Is:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner or PA training program.
- Current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges.
- Must be certified through ANCC, AANP, PNCB or NCCPA.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Detail oriented and self-motivated
- Education focused and a creative problem-solver
